Manatees acquire scars and mutilations on various parts of their bodies. This coupled with the fact that they have a large, round body shape means it often takes more than one image to document all distinct features on an animal.

Within 24 hours of hatching, young whooping cranes can follow their parents away from the nest. Together, they forage for plants, insects, snakes, frogs and small animals.
