The Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) develops a variety of cartographic products in response to the needs of the community. The Boating and Anglings Guides are one such example. The FWRI provides technical support in the form of data and cartographic layout and works with a variety of local, state and federal partners.

Since 1992, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute has been producing a statewide series of educational boater guides that target anglers and boaters to inform them about Florida's coastal and marine ecosystems.

The online Boating and Angling Guide to Tampa Bay complements the printed version. This site contains all information found in the printed version as well as both detailed and interactive maps. Users may zoom and print specific sections of the guide.


FWC Facts:
Blue crabs have specially modified back legs, called swimmerettes, which rotate at 20-40 revolutions per minute, allowing the crab to quickly swim through the water.
