Recreation (updated yearly)

In support of the resource management goals and objectives for the area and to provide a quality experience for all area users, the following recreation activities are allowed.

Hunting

White-tailed Deer

Hunting of deer and turkey is limited to short, high-quality hunts. Since there is not much hunting pressure on the deer herd, bucks have the opportunity to mature. Fifteen special-opportunity permits ($175 each) are available by application for each of two deer hunts. Ten special-opportunity permits ($175 each) are available by application for each of three turkey hunts. Quail hunting is also good on Triple N Ranch.

Wildlife Viewing

Walk, hike, or bike along the Loop Road and you may spot a gopher tortoise along the road's edge. A quiet observer may spot a white-tailed deer or a group of wild turkeys. You may request a copy or download or print the Triple N Ranch Bird List - pdf file. Visit the Wildlife page for more information about the area's wildlife.

Hiking

photo wooded road

Hiking access gate year-round; no hiking during special opportunity hunts; miles of well-marked loop roads.  A new 7-mile loop hiking trail, constructed by the Florida Trail association offers a 4 to 8 hour hiking session.  The trail is well marked, but the terrain is very uneven and much of the trail is wet during the summer and fall.  Other, shorter, hiking trails, are planned for the near future.

Biking

Biking access gate year-round; no biking during special opportunity hunts; 16-17 miles of well-marked loop roads. Most of the roads are in good condition except for a few soft spots southeast of Crabgrass Creek.

Horseback Riding

Horseback riding access gate year-round; no horseback riding during special opportunity hunts; trailer parking in hunt camp area; nonpotable water; the footing on the roads is generally good for horses, not too hard or too soft.

Camping

Camping is permitted only at designated campsites in campground (pdf file) only during hunting days.
