San Pedro Bay encompasses 21,760 acres in south Madison and northeast Taylor Counties, north of Perry. A recreational use permit is required to access this area with the exception of through-hikers on the Florida Trail. The Florida Trail runs for about 10 miles along the western border of the area. Cypress swamps cover most of the landscape, with some limited hardwood areas and pine plantations. In addition to deer and hog hunting, horseback riding (only on days closed to hunting), fishing, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, and frogging are permitted year round. Camping is prohibited on the area. Wildlife on the area includes white-tailed deer, turkeys, rabbits, gray squirrels, feral hogs and alligators.
