Bull Creek WMA comprises more than 23,000 acres in eastern Osceola County, near the town of Holopaw.
Natural communities include longleaf pinelands, slash
pine-palmetto flatwoods, scattered cypress and mixed hardwoods
and a variety of other wetlands. Numerous streams intersect the
forest. In the spring, lilies, orchids, blue flag iris, St.
Johns wort, and pitcher plants bloom in wet areas.
There are excellent hiking opportunities on the area, including
a segment of the
Florida
National Scenic Trail (FNST), where
white-tailed
deer,
feral hogs,
wild
turkey,
marsh rabbit,
gopher tortoise,
sandhill crane, and many songbirds may be seen. Hunting,
fishing, wildlife viewing, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding,
and paddling are among the many recreational activities
available on Bull Creek. Camping is allowed at the designated
campground during hunting
seasons, and year round for through hikers at designated sites
along the FNST. Levee 73 is open for hiking and
bicycling. For additional information, a
