| Small
Mac Fonts |
Macintosh
computers will show fonts (text) at a smaller size than PC-based Windows
machines. This site is designed based on the fact that most users
will have Windows machines. If you have a Macintosh and find the text
difficult to read, we suggest you run PantherNet in PC mode (if you
have a Power PC) or if a less current Mac, change your default font
sizes in your browser.
To do this in Netscape, select Edit, then Preferences, then, Appearance/Fonts.
We suggest you change the "fixed width font" to "Arial"
size "12" or higher (viz., "14").

Overview of the Software Needed for Florida Panther Net
|
Florida Panther Net uses multimedia to increase the quality and variety
of information. We encourage you to update your web browsers (e.g.
Netscape 4, Microsoft IE 4) and add various free software (called
plugins) to support these features. We have chosen plugins that work
on a variety of platforms (Mac, IBM) and operating systems (Win 3.1,
Win95/98/NT, Mac). Each includes detailed, easy installation instructions.
This site was designed to be best viewed in Netscape 4.0 (or higher)
at 640 X 480 resolution, on a 15 inch monitor or better. If you are
an AmericaOnline or CompuServer user, you may still use these web
browsers. Check your online help for assistance. On this site, the
Handbook section only requires a 3.0 or better browser, however the
activities section requires a 4.0 browser or better. |

Problems With Fuzzy Video? |
|
Your problem is likely how many colors your computer is using. Video
files are best viewed using 16-bit high color graphics. Viewing videos
on computers using 256 colors will be fuzzy and grainy no matter how
well they are produced. If you bought your computer in the last two
years, it should support 16 bit high color mode though many manufacturers
set displays to 256 color anyway. In Windows95, access your help
menu and request instructions for "display, colors, changing the number
of". For other operating systems. consult your manuals or manufacturer.
