Belted kingfishers have large heads and bills compared to their small bodies. This helps them to be expert fishermen. Belted kingfishers are often seen sitting high in the trees or hovering high above the water, before diving headfirst to catch small fish. Kingfishers do not chew their food like we do, but swallow the fish whole.
