Lake Istokpoga aquatic plant management meeting set for May 4

The public is invited to attend a meeting to review and comment on the Lake Istokpoga aquatic plant management plan for 2015-2016. Representatives from the FWC and Highlands County will be available to answer questions about planned upcoming aquatic plant management activities. 

FWC to meet April 14-16 in Tallahassee

The FWC will meet April 14-16 in Tallahassee at Florida A&M University’s Alfred Lawson Jr. Multipurpose Center. Tuesday's session starts at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday's and Thursday's sessions start at 8:30 a.m. The public is invited and will be provided opportunities to speak during these two days.  

Help plan the future of T.M. Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area

A 10-year plan for the T.M. Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area will be presented Tuesday, March 31. People are invited to the 7 p.m. public hearing at the Brevard County Commission Chambers, 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, in Viera. 

Join FWC webinars to comment on black bear management plan

The webinars will be held March 23 and March 26, each beginning at 6 p.m. EDT. Those interested in viewing the webinar must register for either session. 

Public input sought on FWC permit request to restore 46 area lakes, water bodies

March 12, 2015 

The FWC seeks a permit that would authorize all of its routine mechanical aquatic plant maintenance activities related to habitat restoration and navigation maintenance within these water bodies for a period of 15 years.  

Public input sought on permit request allowing FWC lake restoration in south Florida

March 11, 2015 

The proposed restoration activities on lakes and other water bodies would improve habitat for fish and wildlife and provide outdoor opportunities for boating, angling and wildlife viewing. 

Bully netting and barracuda workshops scheduled for late February and early March

February 16, 2015 

The bully netting workshops will focus on commercial license requirements, commercial harvest limits and other potential management measures and at the barracuda workshops, staff will gather public input on potential regulation changes such as commercial and recreational bag limits, size limits, gear restrictions, region-specific regulations or other related management options for barracuda.

The FWC will meet Feb. 4-5 in Jacksonville at the Hyatt Regency, 225 E.Coastline Dr. The sessions start at 8:30 a.m. The public is invited and will be provided opportunities to speak. 

FWC to hold public hearings on proposed manatee zones for western Pinellas

January 26, 2015 

The FWC will hold two public hearings Tuesday, Jan. 27, and Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. to gather additional public comment.  

Public meeting set on managing aquatic plant life in Lake Jackson

January 23, 2015 

The meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Lake Jackson Community Center, 3840 N. Monroe St., Tallahassee.
