Anglers can take advantage of more Gulf red snapper fishing starting this weekend

This Friday, June 16, begins the first weekend of an additional 39-day season for recreational red snapper fishing in Gulf federal waters and changes to the state season.

Matthew Hortman, an FWC biologist who works on the Apalachicola River WEA, received the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s 2016 Resource Manager of the Year award at the June 14 meeting of the Governor and Cabinet in Tallahassee.  

FWC reminds scallopers to stay safe, recognize and use divers-down flags and buoys

With the opening of scallop seasons fast approaching, the FWC reminds everyone engaged in this fun outdoor activity to use a divers-down warning device whenever they are snorkeling or scuba diving while searching for these tasty treats.
