The FWC launches its 75 Years Wild photo contest encouraging people to explore the natural beauty of Florida’s Wildlife Management Area system.

The National Archery in the Schools Program is a cooperative effort between the FWC and the Florida Department of Education that teaches international style target archery in fourth-12th grade physical education classes.  

FWC plans prescribed burn on Lake Okeechobee

February 15, 2017 

The FWC is planning a prescribed burn on 2,500 acres of Lake Okeechobee, between the Kissimmee River and Buckhead Ridge Canal, to improve fish and wildlife habitat. The prescribed burn is scheduled for Feb. 16, weather permitting.

FWC Facts:
Male Florida panthers can weigh as much as 150 pounds, but average 120 to 130 pounds. Females average 70 to 75 pounds.
