This Memorial Day Weekend, the FWC and Audubon are reminding Floridians to share our beaches and islands with rare and declining species of waterbirds that are currently nesting statewide.

Amberjack, gray triggerfish close June 1 in Gulf state waters

May 25, 2016 

The recreational harvest of greater amberjack and gray triggerfish in Gulf of Mexico state waters (shore to 9 nautical miles) closes June 1 and will remain closed through July 31, reopening Aug. 1. 

Gag season starts June 1; new size limit effective same day

May 25, 2016 

On June 1, gag grouper opens for recreational harvest in most state and all federal Gulf of Mexico waters and the black grouper and gag minimum size limit increases from 22-inches to 24-inches total length.
