Due to construction projects on area dikes and related improvements to the area, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has closed the T.M. Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area.

Effective immediately, under the provisions of 68A-15.004(9) (a) F.A.C., this area will remain closed to public access until the improvements are completed. However, the FWC does plan to have the area open prior to public hunts.

FWC Facts:
American eels spend 10 to 20 years in fresh or brackish waters only to migrate hundreds of miles to spawn in saltwater in the Atlantic’s Sargasso Sea.
