FWC Aug. 17 workshop in Palm Beach County gives local governments ways to conserve gopher tortoises

The goal of these workshops is to identify ways cities and counties can participate in protecting one of Florida’s threatened species. In addition, the FWC will discuss financial incentives available for local governments.  

Hunter safety internet-completion courses offered in September

Those interested in attending a course can register online and obtain information about future hunter safety classes at MyFWC.com/HunterSafety or by calling the FWC’s regional office in Lake City at 386-758-0525.

FWC Facts:
Black bears may look slow because they walk flat on their feet (called plantigrade) like people and travel with a shuffling gait, but they can run as fast as 30 mph.
