Attempt to capture and relocate panther is successful

On April 12, the FWC and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service captured a Florida panther that has been frequenting a neighborhood near Immokalee in Collier County. 

FWC deactivates idle-speed, no-wake restrictions on Suwannee River’s Zone 1; three zones still active

April 13, 2016 

The Suwannee River dropped below the activation trigger at Ellaville Tuesday, prompting the FWC to deactivate idle-speed, no-wake restrictions for the area of the river from U.S. 90 in Ellaville south to State Road 51 in Luraville. 

Sherri Collins, Palm Beach County ASA, honored as FWC Prosecutor of the Year

During the April 13 Commission meeting at Harbourside Place in Jupiter, the FWC honored Palm Beach County Assistant State Attorney Sherri Collins with the agency’s Prosecutor of the Year Award.  

2016 Gulf recreational red snapper state season set

April 13, 2016 

The 2016 season will open Saturdays and Sundays in May starting May 7. On May 28, the season will open continuously through July 10. Finally, the season will reopen for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in September and October, and on Labor Day.
