Free hunter safety Internet-completion courses offered in northwest Florida

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering several free hunter safety Internet-completion courses in northwest Florida.

  • Bay County: Bay County Range, 10900 Steelfield Road, Panama City Beach. Instruction is from 6 to 9 p.m. CST, Oct. 9. The range portion of the class will be from 8 to 11 a.m., Oct. 10. If you need directions to the range, call the direct line 850-556-5792.
  • Calhoun County: Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, 20091 NW Maxie Waldorff Road, Blountstown. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. CST, Oct. 10.
  • Escambia County: Molino Community Center, 6450 Hwy. 95A, Molino. Instruction is from 6 to 10 p.m. CST, Oct. 15. The range portion of the class will be Oct. 17 from 7 to 10 a.m. Directions to the range will be handed out in class.
  • Gadsden County: Talon Shooting Range, 550 Commerce Blvd., Midway. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST, Oct. 3.
  • Jackson County: Chipola College Firing Range, 3052 Calhoun Road, Marianna. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. CST, Oct. 17.
  • Liberty County: Woodmen of the World Camp, 22459 NE Woodmen of the World Road, Hosford. Instruction is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST, Oct. 10.

Students must complete the Internet course before coming to class and bring a copy of the final report from the online portion of the course. The final report form does not have to be notarized.

An adult must accompany children under the age of 16 at all times. Students should bring a pencil and paper with them to take notes.

Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must pass an approved hunter safety course and have a hunting license to hunt alone (unsupervised). The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.
