Attention boaters: public waterways remain open

News Release

Thursday, September 17, 2015

If you have received or heard about an email claiming that certain rivers in north Florida will be closed to all outboard activity, be aware that this message is false and was not sent from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). All normally open waterways are still open to the public and no public meetings are currently planned. Accurate and up-to-date information from the FWC is posted on MyFWC.com and on the agency's social media sites, and is sent to subscribers via GovDelivery emails. You can subscribe or modify your subscription at MyFWC/news.

FWC Facts:
Black bears may look slow because they walk flat on their feet (called plantigrade) like people and travel with a shuffling gait, but they can run as fast as 30 miles an hour.
