Temporary regulation change for Rodman Reservoir begins Nov. 1

October 30, 2015 

Largemouth bass caught in the Rodman Reservoir north of Highway 316 must be released immediately, according to FWC officials. All other normal fishing regulations will remain in effect during the drawdown.

Prescribed fire scheduled for western Lake Okeechobee

The prescribed fire is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29, through Monday, Nov. 2, weather permitting. Access to the navigational trails through the bay may be limited temporarily during the fire for safety reasons. 

Hydrilla treatment scheduled for two Osceola County lakes

The FWC will treat 515 acres on Lake Hatchineha and 532 acres on Lake Kissimmee the first week of November by airboat with Aquathol K™, which has no restrictions for fishing, swimming or irrigation.  

Barracuda: New bag/vessel limits effective Nov. 1 in south Florida

New recreational and commercial bag limits for barracuda go into effect Nov. 1 for state and federal waters off Collier, Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin counties only. 

Free Kids’ Saltwater Fishing Clinic promises day of learning, fun

The FWC will offer a free Kids’ Fishing Clinic for children between the ages of 5 and 15 from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 7 at Good Times Motel and Marina, Steinhatchee. 

FWC to conduct aquatic weed control on Lake Rousseau

The FWC will be conducting aquatic weed control operations in Lake Rousseau using Environmental Protection Agency-approved herbicides through Nov. 6. 

2015 Gulf red snapper season closes after this weekend

October 26, 2015 

Halloween (Oct. 31) and Nov. 1 are the last days the recreational red snapper season for Gulf state waters will be open in 2015.
