Learn a hobby at free Women’s Fishing Clinic in Palm Beach

Participants will not only take home a lifelong hobby, they will leave with a new appreciation for the marine environment. They will learn the basics of environmental stewardship, fishing ethics, angling skills, safety and the vulnerability of Florida’s marine ecosystems in a fun, laid-back atmosphere. 

Help plan the future of Aucilla Wildlife Management Area

A 10-year plan for the Aucilla WMA will be presented at a public hearing beginning at 7 p.m. May 12 at the Jefferson County Courthouse Annex. The public is invited to attend, ask questions and comment.  

Limited commercial oyster harvest to potentially quicken recovery of Apalachicola area known as East Hole

The Apalachicola oyster reef known as East Hole (also known as Area 1671) will open to limited commercial harvest on Thursdays starting May 7 and continuing through May 28. Open days include May 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Florida panther kittens have dark spots that help them blend in with their den’s surroundings and camouflage them from predators. They fade to a tawny brown as they become adults.
