Hunter safety courses offered in December

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering free hunter safety courses in four counties in December (list follows).

Students who have taken the online course and wish to complete the classroom portion must bring the online-completion report with them. Traditional course students complete the entire course in person.

All firearms, ammunition and materials are provided free of charge. Students should bring a pen or pencil and paper. An adult must accompany children younger than 16 at all times.

Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must pass an approved hunter safety course and have a hunting license to hunt alone (unsupervised). The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.

The locations and times are:

Online Completion Courses

Dec. 12 (8 a.m. until complete)
Dec. 27 (9 a.m. until complete)
Deerfield Beach

Dec. 20 (8 a.m. until complete)
Key Largo

Palm Beach
Dec. 13 (8 a.m. until complete)
West Palm Beach

Traditional Courses(must complete all days)

Dec. 18 (6 to 10 p.m.)
& Dec. 19 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
& Dec. 20 (6:30 to 9 a.m.)

Palm Beach
Dec. 12-13 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
West Palm Beach

The specific locations for these classes will be given to those who register in advance. Those interested in attending a course can register online and obtain information about future hunter safety classes at or by calling the FWC’s regional office in West Palm Beach at 561-625-5122.


FWC Facts:
A vessel's certificate of registration must be on board and available for inspection by an enforcement officer whenever the vessel is operated.
