Shikar-Safari Honors 2015 Officer of the Year

The Shikar-Safari Club International has named Officer George Reynaud its 2015 Wildlife Officer of the Year. The annual award honors a state officer whose efforts show outstanding performance and achievement among sworn fish and wildlife law enforcement personnel. 

FWC names Eddie Childs as Florida’s Volunteer Hunter Safety Instructor of the Year

The FWC has named Eddie Childs of Orange Park its 2014 Volunteer Hunter Safety Instructor of the Year – an award given to the volunteer who significantly advances the cause of safe hunting through extraordinary service in training and education. 

Harris Hill receives Youth Hunting Program’s Landowner of the Year award

The FWC has presented Harris Hill of St. Cloud with the Landowner of the Year award for its Youth Hunting Program of Florida. This program strives to provide quality hunting experiences for 12- to 17-year-olds to increase the number of youths involved in the tradition of hunting. 

Commission approves 70-day recreational red snapper season in Gulf state waters

The FWC has approved a 70-day recreational red snapper season for Gulf state waters. Red snapper is a popular species that has a strong economic impact for many coastal communities throughout Florida.
