The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will conduct a public hearing next month to announce the proposed management plan for the L. Kirk Edwards Wildlife and Environmental Area (WEA) in Leon County.

Required by Florida Statute 259.032 (10)(b), the hearing is scheduled for 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension Office, 615 Paul Russell Road in Tallahassee.

The purpose of this hearing is to receive public comment regarding the development of the FWC's 10-year management plan for the 1,712-acre L. Kirk Edwards WEA.  The meeting will start with a presentation about components of the draft management plan, followed by a question-and-answer session and public testimony.

A management prospectus for the L. Kirk Edwards WEA is available upon request from the FWC's Conservation Acquisition and Planning group.  Call David Alden, 850-487-9588, or Larame Ferry, 850-487-9102.
