The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and Northwest Florida State College are hosting a lecture on bear safety on Sunday, Aug. 22, from 3:30-5 p.m.

The event will take place at the Northwest Florida State College - Fort Walton Beach Campus, 1170 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in the Building 8 auditorium.

The FWC's new 15-minute DVD, "Living with Florida Black Bears," will be shown, and local residents are invited to learn about coexisting with Florida's black bears.

Alan Knothe, wildlife biologist with the FWC will be on hand to answer questions about bears and can suggest tools to reduce problems and increase enjoyment of local wildlife.  The talk is free and open to the public.
