Re-issuance schedule - when and how to apply for returned permits.
Returning permits: If you are unable to use your archery, muzzleloading gun, general gun, wild hog, spring turkey, youth spring turkey, supervised youth, mobility-impaired, track vehicle, airboat, quail or family quota permit for any reason, you may return it to the FWC to be re-issued to another hunter. All permits must be returned at least 10 days before the hunt begins. No permits will be accepted electronically or by any other means within 10 days of the start date of your hunt. If you would like to return a permit issued in Phase I and have your preference points re-instated (and an additional preference point awarded), it also must be returned electronically no less than 10 days prior to the first day of the hunt. Quota Permits issued in Phase II or Phase III may also be returned for reissue, but preference points are not awarded or restored for returned permits that were issued after Phase I.
NOTE: If you plan to return your quota permit, please do not wait until the last minute - return it right away to give another hunter the opportunity to be reissued the permit. You cannot, for any reason, return a quota permit less than 10 days from the first day of the hunt electronically, by mail, or by any other method. If your hunt begins on Nov. 10, the permit must be returned by midnight Oct. 31. Oct. 31 is the 10th day prior to the beginning hunt date Nov. 10.
Quota permits may only be returned electronically online. Quota permits cannot be returned by mail or through license agents. Returned permits will instantly be removed from the list of successful permit holders used by Law Enforcement to verify permitted hunters. Any guest permits previously issued for the returned permit will be invalid.
How to return a quota permit: Quota permits may be returned beginning in Phase III. Permits cannot be returned before Phase III begins. Open your account in the licensing system. Find in your account the quota permit you wish to return in 'awarded permits' and click on the 'Return' button beside the hunt. You will then see a validation page describing the hunt and asking you if this is the permit you wish to return. WARNING: Please check this page closely. Once you select the hunt and agree that this is the one you want to return, it cannot be undone. If you accidentally select the wrong hunt, it cannot be corrected by FWC. If there is no 'Return' button beside the hunt, the 10 day deadline before the hunt begins has passed and the quota permit cannot be returned, or Phase III has not yet started.
We are now reissuing returned permits by random-draw. The application period for reissues will be Saturday at 12 noon ET through Tuesday at 12 noon ET.
- Only one application per permit type may be submitted per customer with up to five choices per application.
- The drawings will be conducted on Tuesday afternoons, and the results will be posted by 10 am on Wednesdays.
- Left-over permits will be available first-come first-served on Wednesday mornings at 10 am.
If a permit is returned during the open application period and before deadline and there are other permits available for that same hunt, the returned permit is added instantly to the quota for the current drawing.
If a permit is returned after the application deadline or if there are no other permits available for that specific hunt in the current drawing, it is placed in the next scheduled drawing.
The permit return process will remain the same. Returned permits will show on the Permit Availability page as they are returned.
There will be a separate column in the list of available permits that will display the returned permits as they are returned.
