Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge Permit

General Information

A Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Hunting Permit is a type of hunting permit that is required in order to participate in any and all hunts on Lower Suwannee NWR. These are U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hunts issued by FWC. Click “Application Worksheets” at the bottom of this page for specific hunt dates.   • Cost: The Hunting Permit fee is $15.00. There is no application fee.
  • Requirements: Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Issuance Method: An unlimited number of Lower Suwannee NWR Hunting Permits are available for purchase from May 15 through the last day of spring turkey season on Lower Suwannee NWR.
  • Exemptions: Youth hunters less than 16 years of age are exempt from the NWR Hunting Permit requirement, but must be supervised by an adult who is 18 years of age or older.
  • Restrictions: You may submit one Lower Suwannee NWR Hunting Permit application and receive one Lower Suwannee NWR Hunting Permit from May 15 through the last day of spring turkey season on Lower Suwannee NWR. Youth under the age of 16 do not need a permit, but must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old.
  • Group Applications: An unlimited number of Hunting Permits are available for Lower Suwannee NWR, so group applications are NOT available for this permit type.
  • Preference Points: There are no preference points for this permit type.
  • Transferability: Lower Suwannee NWR Hunting Permits are NOT transferable.
  • Guest Permits: Guest permits are NOT available for this permit type. Each Lower Suwannee NWR Hunting Permit allows the permit holder to hunt. Only youth hunters and persons with valid Lower Suwannee NWR Hunting Permits may hunt on the NWR.
  • How to Apply: You can apply online and choose “Apply for Limited Entry/Quota Permit” or complete the Application Worksheet (click “Application Worksheet” at the bottom of the page) and present it to any license agent or tax collector office. Children and residents who do not hold a Florida driver license or Florida ID must apply as non-residents to use the online system.
  • How to Get Your Permit: You may pay for and print your Lower Suwannee NWR Hunting Permit online or at a license agent or tax collector office. During the First-Come, First-Served application period you are immediately awarded your permit, and the license agent or tax collector will immediately print your permit. If applying online, you can immediately print or save your permit. The permit will remain available online until the last day of your hunt. If you choose to pay for your permit online, be sure you have access to a printer and to disable your browser’s pop-up blocker, so that you can print or save your permit directly from the website.
  • Reprints: You can reprint lost or destroyed non-transferable Lower Suwannee NWR Hunting Permits online at no cost or at a license agent or tax collector office for about $2.50. Receipts, temporary license numbers and printed copies of Internet pages may not be used as a Lower Suwannee NWR Hunting Permit.
