Inspector GeneralOverviewThe Office of Inspector General (OIG) was established in each state agency by the legislature (section 20.055, Florida Statutes) in 1994, to provide a central point for coordination of and responsibility for activities that promote accountability, integrity, and efficiency in government. The OIG accomplishes these goals through internal audits, investigations, and management reviews. Additionally, the OIG conducts investigations brought under the agency's Ombudsman Program and investigates complaints that fall under the state's whistle-blower statute. Reference to these functions may be found in the agency's Internal Management Policies and Procedures Manual in sections 1.8 and 1.30. Additionally, the OIG investigates complaints involving alleged sexual harassment as it is defined under state and federal law and Section 6.29.11, IMPP.
