OFFICE OF LICENSING AND
PERMITTING
FLORIDA QUOTA HUNT
850 488-3641
Residents age 65 or older,
residents with Disabled Person Hunting and Fishing Certificates,
residents in the U.S. Armed Services stationed out of state and home on
leave for 30 days or less and children under age 16 are exempt and are
not required to have quota hunt permits to participate in many Wildlife
Management Area (WMA)
hunts. Due to lease agreements, size and other factors some areas do not
permit exemptions. Hunts where exempt persons must have quota permits
are shown in bold print on the
quota hunt worksheets.
Hunts where exempt persons must have quota permits are also indicated by
“(no exemptions)” under Quota Permit Information in individual
WMA brochures.
One child under the age of 16 may accompany any quota permit holder age
18 or older on hunts with no exemptions provided that the youth and the
permit holder share a single bag limit. Quota hunt permits issued to
exempt hunters have the exemption identified on the permit. Permits
issued to children, senior citizens, disabled and military may only be
transferred to a person with the same exemption, except children under
age 16 may use a permit issued to another child or to a senior. This
means a quota permit issued to a senior citizen can only be used by
another senior citizen or a child. A permit issued to a disabled hunter
may only be used by another disabled hunter. A permit issued to a child
may only be used by a child. A senior cannot use a permit issued to a
disabled, child or military and disabled cannot use a permit issued to a
senior, child or military.
