Southwest Region Instructor News

I want to start off by THANKING everyone who has made this program as successful as it is. I have made this declaration many times that “it is the volunteers” that make the difference. As we look back on 2007 we had classes in every county and graduated 2198 students while donating 4606 hours of your time. This is only done by your dedication and commitment to being number 1.

As we look forward to 2008 there are classes schedule in all but three counties as of Jan 9. I know that we will fill the remainder here soon. Typically the remaining three are usually late dates anyway due to other events. Keep up the good work.

REGIONAL WORKSHOPS

Carrie and I are planning on two regional workshops this year to accommodate everyone and keep mileage down. Put this on your calendar.

On March 8^th 2008 we will hold the first workshop in Ft Myers. This workshop will be available for all of you in the south end of the region. The location will be at the Boy Scout service center, 1801 Boy Scout, Dr Ft Myers 33907 form 9am till 4pm.

On March 22 2008 we will hold the second workshop here in Lakeland. The location will be the regional office 3900 Drane Field Rd Lakeland 33811.

Please try and attend one or the other but try and choose the one closes to you.

YOUTH HUNTER EDUCATION CHALLENGE

We are still looking for students to participate in our YHEC program. You can view all the info on our web site as well as in the news letters.

NASP

I am still looking to get the National Archery in the Schools program in many of our counties. If you know of a school that would like to participate in this great program please let me know and I will follow up with them. This is a great opportunity to get archery back into the schools where they pay $750.00 for about $3500.00 of archery equipment.

STATEWIDE WORKSHOP

Do not forget the Statewide workshop is May 16-18 and the theme will be Law Enforcement; covering the latest need to know info on hunting laws. Look for more info coming in the mail to you soon.

We are bulk ordering supplies now for the entire state; so if you need supplies let me know SOON so we can get the ordering done.
