2008 STATEWIDE WORKSHOP

The award winners from our region were:

Congratulations!!  Make plans now to attend next year – May 15-17, 2009 in Ocala.

NASP = NATIONAL ARCHERY IN THE SCHOOLS PROGRAM

We have funding to put ~ $5,000.00 worth of archery equipment in Florida schools and it will only cost them $750.00. What a deal!  Hurry – first come, first serve!

HUNTER SAFETY (HS) COURSES

We have courses scheduled all year for Broward, Collier, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie Counties. We could use some more in Glades, Hendry, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.

INSTRUCTORS CERTIFIED

Please join me in welcoming Debbie Brunson of Miami-Dade County and Kurt Zeitler of Collier County.  They have completed all of their paperwork and training to become a Certified HS Instructors. Congratulations!

YHEC - Youth Hunter Education Challenge

Five Florida hunter safety graduates were part of the National YHEC Tournament on July 28 – August 1, 2008 in Mansfield, Pennsylvania.  Three came from our region!  Our hats are off to Bishop Wright and everyone else who volunteered to make that happen!

Youth Day

February 9, 2008 was the 10^th Annual Youth Day at the Everglades Youth Conservation Camp.  HS volunteers who taught on the range:  Halina Wlodarczyk, Floyd Frankenfield, Ryan Espinoza, Keith Jones, and Bishop Wright.  ~700 people attended.  Next year’s date will be February 7, 2009 and we hope to offer the hunter safety online completion day course at the event.  Please let us know if you can help.
