North Central Region Instructor News

2008 STATEWIDE WORKSHOP

We finally did it!  The North Central Region won the Seneca Run for the first time in 10 years!  Team members Hardy Durden, Missy Baughman, Tim McKinnon, Anne Karns and Lewis Howell took home the prize for the best darn region in Florida (we won an award for that too!)  The 2008 Instructor of the Year is Gene Hook from Nassau County, and Tom Deville of Clay and Bradford Counties hooked the Area Coordinator of the Year award.  Congratulations to all, it was a great year to be from the North Central Region!

YOUTH HUNTER EDUCATION CHALLENGE

The North Central Region has successfully formed a team of participants that will travel to Ocala on May 3 for the State YHEC competition. Hats off to the Friends of the Osceola for bringing this event together (twice) and the Levy County Extension Office in Bronson for their event on March 8.  Also, special thanks to instructors Greg Sheppard, Bill Baker, Larry McGrath, Colan Coody, Brenda Heberling and Albert Fuller for all their hard work in bringing our region to the forefront of the return of the Youth Hunter Education Challenge in Florida!  *Breaking News - Two of the North Central Region participants, Colter Brown and Isaac Amicarelle, qualified in the top five and will represent Florida at the National Tournament in Mansfield, PA.  Congratulations!

NEW INSTRUCTOR WORKSHOP

We had a very nice turnout at our February 16 New Instructor Workshop.  Eleven smiling faces jammed into our conference room at the Regional Office in Lake City to complete one of the required steps.  The new recruiting posters with the tear-off/mail-in forms seem to be working well, so if you need to place some posters in your area, please let Sam know and we'll get them out to you.  Here is a list of the attendees.  We'll get their contact information out to the respective area coordinators.  Please welcome:
