FISHING CAPITAL SURVEY


Purpose of the survey – To obtain public input relevant to conserving Florida’s status as the Fishing Capital of the World, and provide the public with appropriate information.
 
DIRECTIONS:  This survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete, although if you want to visit some of the Web sites or view some of the publications listed near the end it will take longer).  Please note that some yes/no questions direct you to proceed to the next question and gray out follow-up questions if you select no.

15. Many anglers in Florida are exempt from buying a fishing license. For instance, anglers that fish from shore or piers in saltwater, county residents using cane poles in freshwater, and resident youths and seniors in freshwater and saltwater do not have to buy fishing licenses. Thus they do not directly contribute to the management, restoration and conservation of the state’s fisheries, and cannot be counted to recover excise taxes spent on tackle or motor boat fuels. We would like to know if you feel we should encourage anglers to voluntarily purchase a license to help pay for the management and conservation of the state’s fisheries they use and to get more federal tax money that is already paid into the system back to help with Florida sport fish restoration efforts.
