The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is proposing a15-inch to 24-inch protective slot limit with a three-fish bag limit for largemouth bass in Lake Istokpoga Fish Management Area. Anglers would be allowed to keep up to three bass per day which are smaller than 15 inches(generally less than 2 pounds) or larger than 24 inches (approximately 8 pounds or more). Anglers would be required to immediately release all bass between 15 inches and 24 inches. The objective of the regulation is to provide a high-quality largemouth bass fishery in Lake Istokpoga, while allowing harvest of more abundant, smaller bass which most anglers say they prefer to eat and trophy, "catch of a lifetime" bass. The regulation would become effective July 1, 2000.
