Blackwater Fisheries Research and Development Center includes both a fish production facility which stocks sport fish into public waters, such as rivers and lakes, and a research staff which evaluates the success of fish stockings and conducts ecological and fisheries studies in rivers.

Midway is the site of our Apalachicola Research team that also is the focal point for striped bass and sunshine bass research and management statewide.

Joe Budd Aquatic Education Center is also housed here and has a managed pond and trails to provide aquatic education and fishing programs for school children and other special groups.

The Florida Bass Conservation Center at the site of the old
Richloam Hatchery is the major freshwater fish production hatchery in the state supplying fish such as largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, bream, triploid grass carp, striped bass and sunshine bass. Research on aquaculture methods is also carried out here.
