FWC SEEKING INSTRUCTORS TO PROMOTE SPORTFISHING

The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is seeking 25 facilitators to train instructors in how to use the Hooked on Fishing not on Drugs (HOFNOD) program to promote sportfishing, aquatic resource education, and outdoor activities as a means to stay away from drugs.

The FWC, in partnership with the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) and the American Sportfishing Association (ASA), is presenting a HOFNOD Training Workshop. Participants will receive training manuals, the HOFNOD and National Aquatic Resources Education curriculum guides, videos, promotional materials and updates about the program in other parts of the United States. After completion of the program, facilitators will be equipped to train instructors in how to use this program effectively and will be required to participate in at least one training workshop per year over the next three years under the auspices of IGFA and FWC.

The workshop will take place Sat., March 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the IGFA's World Fishing Center in Dania Beach. All workshop materials and instruction will be provided by ASA, and there are no registration fees or other costs to participants. Space is limited to 25. To register, send a letter including the name of your organization, your address and day phone number, and a brief statement describing your involvement with youth and community groups and how your programs will benefit from your participation in this training. [Webmaster's Note: An application in Adobe Portable Document Format can be found here to facilitate your applying]
