FIVE-YEAR FRESHWATER FISHING LICENSE PROMOTION

Florida anglers tired of the hassle of remembering when to renew their fishing license may want to take advantage of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) five-year freshwater fishing license promotion.

Any resident angler who obtains a five-year license during March and April will also receive a $40 bonus fishing pack of items including lures from Berkley, Culprit and Phantom tackle and an assortment of other gear including Xpoint hooks, bait hooks, a boater*s key chain, mouse pad, magazines and coupons for offers from several sponsors.

In addition to the promotional pack of items, Bob Wattendorf, the FWC*s fisheries marketing specialist, says there are several reasons to take advantage of the offer.

"For one thing, an angler doesn't have to worry about renewing their license from year-to-year," he said. The license they receive is a credit-card style license and much more durable than the old paper license.

"This is also a good way to guard against any fee increases over the life of the license."

Resident five-year licenses cost $61.50 and can be purchased at any tax collector's office or by calling 1-888-FISH-FLORIDA (1-888-486-8356) for an extra $3.95 handling fee.
