WOMEN'S FISHING CLINIC SCHEDULED
Next month, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will offer a women's fishing clinic at its Tenoroc Fish Management Area north of Lakeland. Called "Ladies, Bait Your Own Hook", the clinic is designed to introduce women to the sport of freshwater fishing. The clinic will be held Saturday, November 15, 1997, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
"We are pleased to be able to offer this popular program again," said Officer Jackie Meggison, FWC wildlife officer and clinic coordinator.
The clinic is taught expressly for women by women instructors so they can learn the basics of fishing. Subjects covered during the clinic include fishing techniques, knot tying, bait selection, fish identification, and boating safety. All fishing equipment will be provided; however, if women prefer, they may bring their own. Lunch will be provided at no charge.
"There is no charge for the clinic; however, participants must possess a valid freshwater fishing license," Meggison said.
Pre-registration is required to participate in the clinic. To pre-register for the event, women should call the FWC's Division of Law Enforcement at (941) 648-3200, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. There are only 50 openings for the clinic, so if you're interested in attending, call right away.
