GFC PUBLIC MEETING IN GAINESVILLE
The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will be conducing an open house public meeting on a proposal that would reduce the bag limit on black crappie (speckled perch) to 25 per person per day. This is the opportunity for fishermen to voice support or opposition to the new regulation.
The meeting will be conducted on November 5 at the Doyle Conner Building in Gainesville located at 1911 SW 34th St. You may stop by anytime between the hours of 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Representatives of the Commission will be on hand to discuss ideas about this proposal or other freshwater related fishery topics.
"Reducing the bag limit will leave more black crappie in the lake or river system and give these fish the opportunity to reach their maximum potential," said Jerry Krummrich, fisheries scientist for the FWC, and within a few years fishermen should see an increase in the size of the crappie caught," he said.
If fishermen cannot attend this meeting, they may comment by contacting Lt. Col. Julie Jones at Rt. 7, Box 440, Lake City, Fl. 32055 or telephone (904) 758-0525.
