LADIES, BAIT YOUR OWN HOOK
"Ladies, Bait Your Own Hook" is the theme of the one-half day fishing clinic sponsored by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and hosted by Bienville Plantation.
Instructors for the event include Ms. Marty Gray, a fishing guide specializing in largemouth bass at Bienville Plantation, and Ms. Rosemary Townsend an avid angler who is a Bienville Plantation staff member. Other instructors include Capt. Hamilton Franz, who owns, guides and instructs for Down Stream Outfitters. Capt Franz will give instruction on fly fishing techniques. Also, Mr. Jerry Krummrich, regional fisheries biologist for the FWC, will instruct panfishing methods.
The four-hour seminar starts at 8:00 A. M. and continues until noon. Instruction will be given in fishing methods, casting, baits for different fish species and cleaning and cooking fish.
"In addition to the basics of fishing, participants will have the opportunity to fish the exclusive waters of one of Florida’s best fishing lakes," said Lt. Dewey Weaver, Public Information Coordinator for the FWC. "There are many fishermen that would love to have the opportunity to fish in these lakes and it was very gracious of Bienville Plantation to provide this opportunity to teach ladies the enjoyment that fishing provides."
The seminar is free and all fishing equipment is furnished. However, space is limited to 50 women. Call (904) 758-0525 to reserve your spot on April 4 and receive a map to the event. Additionally, you may be the lucky winner of a guided fishing trip for two at Bienville Plantation.
