Joe Budd Youth Conservation Center presents:
Freshwater Fish Camp
Freshwater Fish Camp – June 6th – 10th or June 20nd - June 24th
Fish Camp is all about fishing. Topics will include tackle assembly and use, knot tying, casting, and angling techniques. While most of the day will be spent fishing, campers will learn valuable information about fish identification, fish feeding preferences, tackle selection, fish handling, and fish cleaning. Boating safety, oaring, trolling motor operation and boat fishing techniques will be covered. Campers are provided with all gear necessary for fishing. Each participant will receive a Zebco 33 rod and reel, and each camper will be given a tackle box full of tackle. At the close of Camp, campers take their fishing equipment home to use for future fishing. Our goal is to have participants leave camp equipped to be successful anglers.
Freshwater Fish Camp Advanced – June 13th – June 17th or June 27th – July 1st
(ONLY for graduates of Basic Camp)
Fish Camp Advanced expands upon the skills learned during Fish Camp. New techniques will be learned such as fly fishing and woodland survival skills! Campers are provided with new tackle to restock their tackle box from previously attended Camp and a rod and spinning reel is provided to update their fishing gear. Campers will be introduced to boating safety and boating navigation in a jon boat and learn to fish while in a kayak. At the close of Camp, campers take their fishing equipment home to use for future fishing. Campers leave Fish Camp with an appreciation for the sport of fishing, as well as the knowledge required for ethical angling.
