Below is a tentative timeline for Phase 1 of the
State Wildlife Action Plan revisions. Firmer dates will be posted
as events approach.
Summer - Fall 2010
- Develop scientifically rigorous criteria for the Species of
Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) List, and revise the list
accordingly
- Partners will have the opportunity to review and provide
feedback on the criteria and draft SGCN list
August 2010: State Wildlife Action Plan
revisions kickoff event(s) with stakeholders and partners
Summer 2010 - Spring 2011: Revise the
introductory chapters and add information on Action Plan
implementation during the first five years
Fall 2010 - Summer 2011
- Working with several partners having freshwater expertise,
develop a new approach to implementing the Action Plan in
freshwater habitats.
- Working with partners, develop a new climate change chapter,
focusing for now on one potential impact: sea level rise
- Targeted partner review and feedback on the revised SGCN
list
Summer 2011
- First draft of the revised State Wildlife Action Plan
complete
- Kickoff event for stakeholders, partners and members of the
public at the beginning of the comment period
Comment period tentatively planned for August 2011
October 2011: the revised State Wildlife Action
Plan will be submitted to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for
approval
