Operation Dry Water

Operation Dry WaterThe mission of Operation Dry Water is to reduce the number of alcohol-related accidents and fatalities through increased recreational boater awareness and by fostering a stronger and more visible deterrent to alcohol use on the water.

Operation Dry Water focuses on spreading awareness of the danger of boating under the influence (BUI) to the recreational boating public through the outreach efforts of FWC’s Division of Law Enforcement, NASBLA, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other participating law enforcement agencies in Florida.

Through heightened focus on impaired operators by law enforcement agencies, the Operation Dry Water campaign can deter boaters from boating under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

When boaters chose to boat impaired they are endangering not only themselves but the many other boaters on the water as well.  FWC Officers have zero tolerance for impaired operators and will not hesitate to arrest these operators if they are found to be operating boats in Florida.

The 2016 Operation Dry Water heightened awareness and enforcement weekend will take place nationally, June 24 through June 26.  However, the outreach and awareness portion of the Operation Dry Water campaign is in effect year-round.
