Species Accounts & Distribution Maps The species accounts provide information of general status, habitat, and status of breeding species in Florida. The accounts were written by various participants and were often sponsored. To find a species alphabetically, select from the Species drop down list and click the he Get Account button or click on a species from the taxonomic table below. Each account includes a map that displays quads with Possible, Probable or Confirmed breeding status. Click here for more info on the maps.
Please Note: The maps contain records from volunteers from 1986-91. The intensity of the survey varied from person to person, and from quad to quad, and some species are easier to detect than others. The nesting status of any given species may have changed since 1991. For these reasons, users of these maps are cautioned that the absence of a record for a given county, quad, or block, does not necessarily mean no nesting is now occurring. This service is not an adequate substitute for a specific on-the-ground survey. The illustrations of the birds were created by artist Diane Pierce.
