Eastern Indigo Snake | ||||||
The eastern indigo snake can grow to over 8 feet in length. Indigo snakes are shiny blue-black, but the chin, cheeks, and throat may be red or rusty brown colored. However, some indigo snakes lack the reddish coloration and have white, brown, or even black chins. Eastern indigo snakes can be found in almost any habitat in Florida. They are nonvenomous and state and federally protected as a threatened species.
