2009 Manatee Decal Art Contest

Manatee Topics

This year marked the 18th year of the Manatee Decal Art Contest. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission requested artwork from Florida students to create a new manatee decal for its Voluntary Contribution Campaign.

The sale of the manatee decals provide funds for the State's manatee protection program. Decals are available at county tax collector offices in Florida to individuals who donate $5 or more to the Save the Manatee Trust Fund. Money from the sales of these decals supports manatee protection efforts such as rescue, rehabilitation, research, enforcement and public education.  Each year, donations received from the decal sales generate approximately $70,000 for the Save the Manatee Trust Fund.
