Pine Log WMA

Pine Log WMA consists of nearly 7,000 acres, entirely within the boundaries of Pine Log State Forest, near Ebro in northwestern Bay and southwestern Washington counties. South of Highway 20, Pine Log is bisected by SR 79. Three creeks—Pine Log Creek, Little Crooked Creek, and Ditch Branch—are found on the area. Land cover consists of mature longleaf pine, stands of young pine, titi swamps, and cypress ponds. Pine Log is home to a number of listed species including the flatwoods salamander, Eastern indigo snake, gopher tortoise, southern red lily, and the white-top pitcher plant. Over 14 miles of hiking trails have been established on the area, including a segment of the Florida National Scenic Trail (hikers only), the Dutch Tieman Trail (hikers, off-road bicycles), the Campground loop (hikers only), and Crooked Creek Trail (primarily off-road bicycle). The 12.5-mile Old Sawmill loop was developed as an equestrian trail.  Children under the age of 16 are required to wear a helmet when horseback riding on public lands.  For more detailed information go to Nicole's Law .  All horseback riders must have proof of current negative Coggins Test results for their horses when on state lands. Camping is permitted at three designated primitive campsites and at the Sand Pine Campground. This area is a site on the Great Florida Birding Trail.
