Fort McCoy WMA is a privately owned timber plantation located in northeast Marion County. More than 8,000 acres are currently available for hunting, fishing, and frogging during hunting seasons to individuals possessing a valid recreational use permit. This area is closed to the public during non-hunting days. There are a limited number of permits issued each year. No camping is allowed on the area. This wildlife area consists of scattered clear-cuts, pine-palmetto flatwoods, cypress ponds, and creek bottom hardwood communities. White-tailed deer, feral hog, wild turkey, small game, and migratory birds are common.
