T. M. Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area is a nearly 6,300-acre restoration project in the upper St. Johns Basin in southwest Brevard County. The project comprises 3,000 acres of intensively managed impoundments, with the remaining acres being maintained as open marsh habitat. The project is designed to create high-quality wetland habitat for wintering, migrating, and resident waterfowl, and other wetland life, and to provide recreational opportunities to the public. Hunting of ducks, coots, and snipe is permitted in season. Two loop trails offer opportunities for horseback riding on the levees.  Children under the age of 16 are required to wear a helmet when horseback riding on public lands.  For more detailed information go to Nicole's Law PDF.  All horseback riders must have proof of current negative Coggins Test results for their horses when on state lands.  There are also hiking, biking and fishing opportunities on the area. Paddling opportunities exist in Goodwin Lake year-round and in the impoundments on Goodwin and Broadmoor in the fall and winter when they are flooded.  Vehicle access for Goodwin is on Mondays and Thursdays, and vehicle access for Broadmoor is on Thursdays only.  Camping is not permitted. The T. M. Goodwin Waterfowl Management Area is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. Marshlands next to the levees are good spots to observe snowy egrets PDF, great blue herons PDF, white ibis PDF, great egrets PDF, night herons, osprey, bald eagles, otters, and alligators.

For updated information regarding public access to Broadmoor please call the T.M. Goodwin WMA office at (321) 726-2862.
