Official Application - Wild Turkey Registry Program

The Wild Turkey Registry Program offers three types of certificate awards for successful turkey hunters meeting award criteria.  Minimum qualifications for Outstanding Gobbler Certificates are: the beard must be 11 inches or longer; and each leg spur must be 1 and 1/4 inches or longer.  All beard and spur measurements should be taken to the nearest 1/8 inch (see diagram).

An Outstanding Gobbler Certificate: Osceola subspecies (Meleagris gallopavo osceola) will be awarded to any hunter who harvests a turkey meeting the minimum spur and beard measurements south of but NOT including Taylor, Lafayette, Suwannee, Columbia, Baker and Nassau counties (see map).

An Outstanding Gobbler Certificate: Eastern subspecies (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris) will be awarded to any hunter who harvests a turkey meeting the minimum spur and beard measurements in Florida counties north and west of, and including Taylor, Lafayette, Suwannee, Columbia, Baker and Nassau counties (see map).

A First Gobbler Certificate will be awarded to any applying youth hunter (hunter less than 16 years of age on the date the turkey was taken) who harvests his or her first gobbler in Florida if the gobbler does not meet the minimum spur and beard measurements for an Outstanding Gobbler Certificate.
