White-tailed Deer Management Program


South Florida Deer Research Project

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has partnered with University of Georgia to conduct a large-scale white-tailed deer research project in South Florida.  The research investigates several aspects of deer ecology in Big Cypress National Preserve and Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge.  To learn more about the project please visit the South Florida Deer Research Project website. 


Hunting Regulation Changes - Deer Management Units (DMUs)

–The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission approved rule changes implementing Deer Management Units (DMUs) with greater antler regulations and changes to the antlerless deer season for Zones A, B and C. Learn about these changes for the 2015-2016 season and similar changes previously approved for Zone D.
