Reviving a Tarpon

Conservation of Florida's diverse and invaluable living resources is the focus of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) mission - Managing fish and wildlife resources for their long-term well being and the benefit of people. On these pages, you can learn about FWC programs that enhance fish and wildlife conservation and what you can do to help.

Working together FWC, Floridians and visitors with an interest in the outdoors can help ensure safe and sustainable use of your fish and wildlife resources.

What is Conservation Stewardship? Stewardship refers to the wise use, management and protection of that which has been entrusted to you or is rightfully yours. Within the context of conservation, stewardship refers to the wide-range of actions and activities of individuals, communities, corporations, groups and organizations acting alone or in partnership to ensure the continued health and sustainability of our living natural resources and the habitats upon which they depend.

The FWC's mission is to provide exemplary leadership in natural resource conservation stewardship for the state of Florida. On our Web site you will find information on our agency's programs as well as links to other natural resource organizations. We have included programs not only within our agency and at the state level, but also links to other sites of interest throughout the nation. We hope you find this resource useful.

Our mission: Managing fish and wildlife resources for their long-term well-being and the benefit of people.
