Our workshops are designed primarily for women; however, it is an excellent opportunity for anyone 18 years of age or older to learn the outdoor skills usually associated with hunting and fishing, and a variety of outdoor pursuits.
These workshops focus on the learning of outdoor skills. We strive to offer a variety of topics in our workshops, balanced between hunting/shooting, fishing and non-consumptive (canoeing, camping, etc.) activities.
This workshop is for you if . . .
- you have never tried these activities, but have hoped for an opportunity to learn.
- you are a beginner who hopes to improve your skills.
- you know how to do some of these activities, but would like to try your hand at some new ones.
- you enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded individuals.
A workshop consists of four sessions, lasting three and one-half hours each. The workshops are held at Pine Jog Environmental Education Center's Everglades Youth Camp in the J.W. Corbett WMA, in Palm Beach County, and at the Ocala Conservation Center in the Ocala National Forest to keep costs to a minimum. The panhandle workshop will be held at the Gulf Coast State College in Panama City. These are rustic camp facilities. Lodging is dormitory-style. Meals are served at designated times, cafeteria-style.
The registration fee for these workshops is $175; however, the fee will ultimately be determined by the availability of facilities and the number of volunteer instructors. The registration fee typically includes instruction in the topics you choose, program materials, use of demonstration equipment, lodging and all meals starting with lunch on Friday through lunch on Sunday. Workshops and topics are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
